ABOUT ME! Let ME talk about ME!

I am Kay Ballard.

My bios are all over the Web.  I never thought this would happen, but I am beginning to become bored reading all of the self-aggrandizing stuff I have written about myself.  I sincerely hope you will refuse to join me in finding me boring.  I would SO prefer that you would find me intriguing!   Or at the very least, mildly interesting.  Or even tolerable.  On rare occasions.

Know this:

I am an executive producer and co-host of the Social Media #Soiree, a virtual party, a gala event, a digital salon. It is a monthly, theme-based, online celebration of collaboration—across continents and time zones and cultures. We are in hiatus, retooling with exciting plans to make the #Soiree a weekly show.

You can read my #Soiree bio here.  It was written by my friend and co-host, Daniel Thurston from Auckland, New Zealand and is amazing work, given that he can barely speak English.

You can read me quoting myself here.  And again, here.

I am the host of a Women Are Not Funny, a weekly internet radio show that celebrates the way that women use humor to their advantage.  Read all about me here.

I don’t speak Italian.  Yet.

I own an amazon Kindle.  I love it.  So much so that some accuse me of being a Kindle Pimp!   I confess it all here.

My friend Jon Swanson asked me Five Questions. I had no choice but to give him my answers.  You can read them here.

You, too, can ask me questions.  About Philanthropy.  Once a month.  On the first Wednesday of every month.  Here.   Cowgirl Philanthropy.  The fun, bold, and practical path to philanthropic leadership.

I love twitter!  But I hate Follow Friday.  You can read why here.

I am a Blip DJ, and I find being so to be fabulously fun.  Most of my blipping is for flirting purposes.  And sending birthday greetings.  My station is here.   Become a DJ yourself using my link:  http://blip.fm/invite/KayBallard

Naturally, given that I am an amazing new media superstar, I have a channel on YouTube.  Which is in its own way hilarious, since I don’t really do video.  More the reason that you should subscribe.  You certainly won’t be pounded by notices of my uploads.

Perhaps I shouldn’t mention it, but I think that I am the Cowgirl in the Sand.

This is where I went to law school.  I graduated in 1990.  I can’t believe the building is still standing!

Oh!  I just remembered.  I am divorced.  My divorce is a celebrity.  It has its own comedy CD called Kay Kay’s Divorce.  My divorce is on ITunes.  Read about it here.  No seriously.  Read about it here.  Better yet, buy it here!

Here is a list of my freshly discovered words and phrases on Wordnik.

Because, you see, I fancy myself to be a Public Intellectual.  No one else sees me that way.  But, I can’t help but think that being a Public Intellectual would be a fabulous gig–if you can pull it off.  I have tried.  At one time I had business cards that listed my title as Self-Important, Self-Absorbed Public Intellectual and waited for the phone to ring.  I was certain that if I made myself available, there would be a huge demand to hear me spout off.  Seemingly, my plan was flawed.

I am an art collector and have a blog on Posterous because it a convenient place to post photos of a couple of paintings that I have wanted to provide links to.  Also, having a blog on Posterous just seems like a Web 2.0 thing to do, doesn’t it?

Briefly, in the days before Web 2.0, I briefly lived in the real world.  It was during that time that, I invented the skateboard.  Obviously, I was very young at the time.

For some reason, I failed to mention that accomplishment on LinkedIn.  I don’t really “do” LinkedIn, but I have a profile there.

I am the president and CEO of New Media International, Inc. Naturally, I have a bio on our company Web site as well.

Also, I am adorable.  And modest.

This is my fake signature:

What I am about to write is meant to be instructional. It is the kind of stuff that is sometimes referred to as valuable content which has no place here on my blog.

Perhaps I shall refer to it as educational because I want to imply that perhaps I have learned something. Learned something that I can teach others. Like you. Perhaps.

Here is is:

When one is the author of a blog it is assumed one wants readers.

Maybe, if one optimizes one’s blog, which is an expression that only has meaning to people who aspire to living the idiocy that such an expression celebrates, one’s blog gains readers.

And, it is happening so slowly that you are annoyed, but I am getting to a point at some point. And that is that to optimize one’s blog one shouldn’t link to the word “here” as I have done on this page, but link to some word within the copy that is not the word “here.” Instead one should link to keywords. Phrases one wants to “rank for.”

Now perhaps you are thinking, “Why am I reading this?” Yay! That shows a sensible concern for your own already wasted time which is something that I support in theory. And knowing that I support your sensible concern, even though sadly it is too late now, is something you read about me here.
