#Soiree: Live From Istanbul

in #Soiree,Confusion,Social Media

I spent the afternoon in Istanbul.   Well, a couple of hours anyway.   I was there in my imagination with my imaginary friends Daniel Thurston and the reputed Kemal Ispirli.  We were pretending to be at a party–a party that is actually a week away.  Yes, the Social Media #Soiree on May 23 is called Live from Istanbul!

And, you might prefer to find this amusing, instead of ironic which it is, but only if the situation rises to the level of significance that irony does or doesn’t require.

You decide.

Because we decided to call this #Soiree “Live from Istanbul,” and it is the first, and yet possibly only, #Soiree that won’t actually be broadcast live.

Some would argue otherwise, but  the three of us, Kemal, Daniel and I, are not stupid.  We mostly even know the meaning of words.  Some words.  Perhaps we even actually know the meaning of the word “live.”  Perhaps we are able to distinguish between “live” and “pre-recorded.”

Oh, horrors!  That would make us liars!  Liars caught in the act of pretension!

I say, “Perish the thought, but long live the liars!”

And in the interest of thought perishment, please, join the liars on May 23 at 9pm eastern time at the Social Media #Soiree, Live from Istanbul!

Once again, I have the privilege of reading your post before you post it! After all, the byline claims you will post it on the 16th, and it is still the 15th! It is so here, at least.

I can hardly wait for the live replay, or maybe the replay of the replay. Or would that be the replay of the live show that is being replayed? Well, I’m sure the actual show itself will be much less confusing.
