Blog Disclosure
This blog, New Media Martini, is not primarily financially driven.
That said, as of December 1, 2009, the FTC requires bloggers to provide disclosures whenever there might be hidden interests or unspoken biases related to their recommendations.
First, the obvious: I am a new media publisher. I am the co-founder of New Media International, Inc. This blog links to my company’s Web site and the Web sites or our various profit seeking properties, projects, and endeavors.
Second, the less obvious: The friends and colleagues whose Web sites I link to are also engaged in profit seeking activities. And yes, I am biased in their favor because they are my friends. Frequently they do nice things for me; occasionally they even send me gifts and/or samples of their products. Sometimes I link to their books with my company’s Amazon link.
It would be annoying to you, and tedious for me, if I had to constantly make disclosures about such things. But, I want to follow the rules. So anytime I give you a link, tell you about a product, or make a recommendation please assume that I am doing so because I have something to gain.
